July’s Monthly Thoughts

A few months ago, I was sitting in a corporate meeting when the question was asked, “At the end of your life, what do you want to be famous for”? I pondered my answer for several minutes, but I kept coming back to the same conclusion. And for a second….I slightly surprised myself.

I mean, here I am, a working mom who has truly “paid her dues” in corporate America, has bought (3) companies (small ones mind you), and have a few different letters at the end of my name after 7 years of postsecondary education. Over my 15+ years of marketing experience, I have worked with high-profile brands and high-profile individuals. “Oohs” and “ahhs” are often heard when I mention projects which included working with personalities such as Billie Jean King, Tiger Woods, and Donald Trump. And the brands I’ve worked with…. are truly a marketer’s dream and include Nike Golf, Universal Studios, Subway Restaurants, and Komens Race for the Cure.

At first, I almost felt compelled to note that I dreamed of finding success running a billion dollar company, becoming the first female CEO of Ford (maybe that’s been the problem; lack of female leadership), or inventing some great new technology which would overtake take the Internet.

But no….I kept coming back to the same conclusion.

I just want to raise great kids.

End of discussion. No additional thought required. No other dreams need be obtained.

If you are visiting this site, you undoubtedly share the goal of “raising great kids”. In my opinion, the task of nurturing great human beings is far tougher than any professional or even personal goal found on any Mom’s “dream board” (we’ve got an article coming on “dream boards” next week if this is a new one for you). And by far…the most gratifying. Personally, I have never fell head over heads in love with a marketing plan I’ve written, simply adored a public relations strategy labored over for hours, or cried tears of joy over an ad concept. I have experienced all of these emotions when it comes to the 3 wonderful human beings who are my kids.

I hope you become a frequent visitor to this site (and join our free newsletter!). We will continually “feed” you with new ideas and tips on everything related to being a mom, and “feed” your soul with advice, words of support, and even mom-to-mom validations, for you as a woman.
